(Irwin) North Huntingdon Township

Westmoreland County, PA

At approximately 10:05 PM, the witness and her three year old child had just pulled out of the Sheetz convenience store on Route 30 in North Huntingdon Township. At the red light, the driver made a left on U.S. Route 30 and proceeded East toward Greensburg. The woman had a window down and the car radio was playing at the time. As she moved along the highway just a short distance away her attention was drawn to a large object hovering over Route 30.

As she slowed down and approached closer, she recalled saying out loud, “what in the world is that?” Her young child who was in the backseat responded by saying, “Look mommy, a flying I-pad in the sky”. The woman looked around and noticed that there were no other cars at the time on that stretch of the road. She was quite concerned over what the object was, and initially stopped on the highway, about 150 feet away from the hovering object. She was trying to figure out in her mind a logical explanation for what she was seeing.

The object, which was completely silent, was hovering approximately 60 feet above that section of the roadway. The witness described the object as looking, “mostly rectangular,” and told me that it “looked like the gondola of a blimp without the blimp.” The length of the solid object appeared to extend over the east and westbound lanes of the highway. The object was estimated to be about 55 feet in length, and approximately 35-40 feet tall.

The witness described the object as being two tiered. The top section was made up of five sets of green lights. There were three individual rectangular lights in each set. The five sets of lights were all evenly spaced in a vertical position, and the lights were all steady with no blinking. The witness said the green color was brighter than the green of a traffic light. The bottom section, which was smaller in size, contained within it two long solid red lights that were placed side by side. The two lights were steady and never blinked. They gave the witness the impression of looking like brake lights, but they were huge.

The woman quickly called her mother using the blue tooth cell phone hookup in her car.  She asked her mother if she knew of any explanation for the object that was hovering ahead of her over the road. As the car passed underneath the object, the woman noticed that the digital display on her car dashboard for the clock, temperature, air bag status, radio, and Bluetooth sync suddenly blacked out. The FM radio station she was listening to lost signal. She also lost her cell phone signal. The witness attempted to take a picture of the object with her iPhone, but the camera function wouldn’t load up.

She accelerated down the road to get away from the object. About a ½ mile away she looked back towards where the object had been and could no longer see it. The digital displays all returned to normal, her radio came back on and she was able to make cell phone contact again with her mother as she approached the Adamsburg exit. When she got home and discussed what happened with her family, they asked her to draw a sketch of the object while it was still clear in her memory.

I conducted both telephone and face to face interviews with the witness and her family and also went to the location of the incident. The witness works out of the area, but travels that road daily to go back and forth to work. A part of the investigation included examining the vehicle driven that day.  Due to the woman’s work schedule, it was several days after the incident before the car could be tested. No magnetic anomalies or abnormal radiation levels were found.

The witness said that she drove down that same section of road several days after the incident trying to make sense of what she saw. She was looking for a tower or even a balloon from a car dealership to explain what she saw, but could find nothing to explain the object. She also was upset that her young child continues to look skyward for the, “floating I-pad.”

The witness tells me that this was an experience she will never forget. She told me how she is the kind of person who must have an explanation for nearly everything in life and now there remains the question of, “what did I see?”

Historical Fact

One of the first UFO cases I investigated occurred in August of 1966, just down the road from where this encounter took place. That incident occurred at the Adamsburg exit and involved an object hovering over the 500-kilovolt high tension power line. As two people in a car on Route 30 approached the power line, the object dropped below the power line and came at the car so close that the occupants ducked their heads. The case is mentioned in my first book, “Really Mysterious Pennsylvania.”

Another Possible Bigfoot Encounter Reported from Northeastern Fayette County, PA-May 23, 2013

Another Possible Bigfoot Encounter Reported from Northeastern Fayette County, PA-May 23, 2013

The following report was received from Eric Altman, Director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society. www.pabigfootsociety.com

Initial Report – May 23, 2013 Northeastern Fayette County

Early evening, near a thickly wooded area, a mother and her adult daughter were walking their dogs and just entered a large meadow.  As they were walking, they noticed a large beige colored creature that appeared to be grazing at the opposite end of the meadow approximately 250 yards away.  The women assumed what they was a deer as it was similar in color and appeared on all fours.  The dogs began to bark at the animal, and the creature rose up onto two legs.  The five dogs went silent, and lay down on the ground, tucking tails.

The creature began to walk towards the two women.  The woman stated they could clearly see the animal was walking on two legs and could see long arms swinging as it approached.  The mother screamed, the two ladies and the dogs quickly fled the area.  They did not get a close enough look to offer a detailed description of the creature other than it appeared to grow in height and size the closer it got. They guessed it stood over six feet tall and was of enormous size.

A preliminary search of the area on May 24 by PBS members Eric Altman, Shawn Dennis, Christopher Brinker revealed no evidence. PBS members Eric Altman, Shawn Dennis and Josh Brinker met with the daughter and her boyfriend on May 31.   The mother did not wish to talk to us or anyone about what she witnessed.  The PBS members were taken to the location and a search was conducted.  No evidence was found in the area.

The daughter appeared credible and we believe she witnessed what she claims.  The daughter became very emotional and began to shake when recounting her sighting to us.  We were also shown other areas in the heavily wooded area. It was near there that other alleged activity has occurred in the past which included, loud screams being heard, rock throwing incidents and a possible road crossing sighting in the forest on a maintenance road the year prior.

Initial conclusion:  The preliminary investigation and eyewitness meeting did not yield any physical evidence; however the area itself is extremely rural in places, providing miles of mountainous forested area.  There are ample water and food sources, and an abundance of wildlife and game.  We feel the eyewitness and her boyfriend were both credible and believed what they witnessed and experienced in the past to be possible Bigfoot activity. The boyfriend of the witness relayed to us that other neighbors and residents were aware of the ongoing activity in the area. The PBS has been invited back to this area in the near future to conduct further investigation and research.

Strange Activity Reported Along the Chestnut Ridge-June 11, 2013

Strange Activity Reported Along the Chestnut Ridge-June 11, 2013

This report was completed by Eric Altman, Director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society.

Summary:

6/11/2013 approximately 1:30 am

Weather conditions overcast and raining.

Residence located at the border of heavily forested area, Eastern slope of the Chestnut Ridge, Westmoreland County Pennsylvania.

Witness claim:

This witness has had prior claims of activity and sightings and has contacted Stan in the past about her sighting and other encounters in and around her property.  Stan has investigated the claims in the past and is familiar with the witness. The woman contacted Stan Gordon to report that approximately 1:30 am, she was in her home reading a book when she began to hear child- like high pitch screams coming from a forested hillside east above her home.

Her son was also awoken to the screams but he did not investigate.  The woman went outside to investigate.  Her two large dogs charged up the yard towards the screams.  They got so far and quickly turned around and ran back to the house and went inside.  The woman continued to investigate and with her flashlight, she claims she saw blue eye shine reflecting about 10 to 11 feet in the air and felt like whatever it was, was staring at her.

Then she heard 10 repetitive knocks she described as a bat hitting a tree or a bat hitting a baseball. She said they were very quick and very loud.  That was the extent of her encounter. Later that morning after the rain let up, she went out to look for tracks and said she found some large slide marks in the mud on a trail she believed the creature had walked down. She contacted Stan by phone and reported the encounter.  Stan contacted me and we spoke by phone in which he requested I assist him with the investigation.

Investigation:

May 11, 2013 at 8:30 pm, Stan, his son, Frank, and I arrived on site to investigate.  The woman relayed her encounter with us.  The four of us went to the area where she saw the eye shine to investigate for signs and tracks.  We found no evidence of anything large being on the hillside other than some trampled weeds and brush.  There are several game trails on the hillside as well as a trail up to a make shift tree house.

While exploring the hillside, two young men came out to see what we were doing.  One boy lives nearby and he confirmed he did hear the screams but couldn’t explain what it was.  The other boy did not hear anything. Apparently, the boys frequent the woods and told us they have heard coyote and other wildlife sounds in the wooded area.

No further information was collected.  Stan did confirm that he had collected other information from other witnesses who claimed similar screams in the general area a few months prior. This area has a long history of sightings, track discoveries, audible sounds and other encounters.

Conclusion:

Although no physical evidence was found to substantiate the woman’s claim, we did receive a confirmation from the neighbor boy who also heard the sounds.  The woman has agreed to keep us posted in the event anything further of note occurs on or around the property.

Rectangular Object over Easton, PA

Rectangular Object over Easton, PA

May 17, 2013-4 PM

Easton, PA-Northampton County

A witness was walking her dog during the beautiful afternoon. She looked up in the sky and observed an airplane moving toward the northeast.  A few seconds later, she observed a light brown colored  rectangular object moving steadily across the sky at a steady, but not real fast pace.

The witness heard no sound and did not see any contrail associated with the object which was moving  at a high altitude. The witness had the object in view as it continued to move, but then it suddenly disappeared or went out of sight. The witness thought that it was “kind of odd” how it just vanished.

Possible Thunderbird sighting

Possible Thunderbird sighting

April 26, 2013-1 AM

Bryn Athyn, PA-Montgomery County

Two teenagers doing some late night exploring in a wooded area claim to have seen a huge bird that they could not identify. As they were moving among the trees, they suddenly heard a loud noise that gave them the impression that a tree was falling. Their reaction was to put their hands over their head and crouch down hoping to avoid being hit.

Nothing fell, but as they looked up, they observed a huge black bird about 40 feet up in a tree that was visible in the moonlight. I interviewed both fellows, and they estimate that the wingspan was between 10-12 feet in width. The height of the bird was estimated to be about 4 feet tall. They believe that they must have startled the bird which flew at tree level to another tree about 30 feet away. They could only see the silhouette of the creature at that point. The sound was apparently being caused by the bird flapping its huge wings that occurred three times.

Another Fireball Meteor Reported from the Pittsburgh area and Other States-May 30, 2013

Another Fireball Meteor Reported from the Pittsburgh area and Other States

May 30, 2013

Approximately 11:05 PM

The American Meteor Society has reported receiving numerous reports of a fireball meteor that was observed at about 11:05 PM from a widespread area. The majority of sightings originated from Ohio and Indiana, but other reports were received from Pennsylvania and several other states. There were some reports from around the Pittsburgh area as well.

One report I received, originated from the North Versailles area.  The witness estimated that the meteor was traveling southeast to northwest and appeared fairly low in the sky. The observer reported that the meteor had an amber and green color.

You can make a report on the fireball by going to the American Meteor Society website:
