Strange Reports Continue Along the Chestnut Ridge

Reports of strange activity continues to be reported from locations along the Chestnut Ridge during 2012. Reports of UFO sightings, Bigfoot and strange creature reports, unusual sounds and smells, and strange footprints have been reported from various locations of Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana Counties.  A resident near Ligonier reports hearing in June, loud knocking sounds from the woods and describes the sound as similar to someone striking trees with a baseball bat. If you have been experiencing anything unusual, please contact Stan.

Red Disc Moves Overhead

June 17, 2012-9:10 PM

White Hall, PA –Allegheny County

At about 9:10 pm, the witness had been walking his dog. He observed a solid red light that was moving from south to north. The object was estimated to be at an altitude of about 2,000 feet high, and moving at about the speed of other commercial aircraft. The object moved in his direction and was described as looking like a disc with a solid outline. There was a bright red light at the bottom of the object that remained steady. As the object moved closer the witness called another man to observe the object with him.

The object appeared to be about the size of a half dollar at the altitude where it was observed. As the object moved almost overhead, the red light suddenly went out. The silent round object continued to move across the sky until it was out of sight. The entire observation was about 1 to 1 ½ minutes.

Strange Lights Over Indiana County near Power Station

At about 10 pm on the evening of June 16, 2012, several people were sitting outside on the porch of their residence when they noticed a small white light rising in the sky in the distance. The light seemed to be moving in their direction from the west, and their first thought was that it could be a navigational light on a conventional aircraft. As they continued to watch, two additional lights joined the original light and formed a V formation.

A fourth light then appeared which moved slowly, then sped up to join the other three lights. That light stopped dead in midair as it formed a diamond formation in the sky.  As the people watched, the silent lights seemed to rise up in the sky in their direction, and then moved toward the vicinity of the Homer City power station.  The four lights in the diamond formation began to move towards a cloud that appeared to be very elongated and wide. The lights seemed to change to a pale yellow color as they entered the cloud. The four lights did not reappear or exit the cloud. The cloud never changed shape or dissipated during the entire observation.

A short time later another similar white light rose above the trees. The observers then continued to watch as numerous other similar lights, one at a time in about 1-2 minute intervals, moved along the same path. Each light seemed to hesitate a few seconds then would continue on and enter the same cloud but would never appear again. The group counted a total of 11 of the single bright lights that made no sound. One witness tried unsuccessfully to take pictures of the lights with her cell phone camera.

Giant Bird On Roadway

Giant Bird on Roadway-Early Spring 2012-Leechburg, PA

During the late morning the witness was driving on Route 356 onto Armstrong Road in Leechburg. The weather was partly cloudy. As she traveled down the road she noticed ahead what appeared to be a very large bird on the road, possibly on top of a dead animal. As she got to about 20 feet distance, she slowed down as she approached closer to the huge bird. As she approached it opened its wings and flapped them and flew off very quickly. The witness was startled by the wingspan of the bird as she never saw anything that large. The wings of the bird extended out to cover about ¾ of the roadway width. It is a rural road with no lines.

The bird was dark in color, and the witness recalls no other details. She said, “It looked like a bird just giant sized”. The observation lasted about 30 seconds. Later she returned with another party to the sighting location curious as to what the wingspan would have been. It was estimated to be about 12 feet across. The witness never stopped since the bird took off.

Some Recent UFO Sightings Could be Sky Lanterns

There have been numerous UFO sightings reported recently from many sections of Pennsylvania. Some of these observations concern bright orange or reddish-orange spheres or light sources moving across the sky. In some cases numerous objects are observed in the sky at about the same time.  From the information I am receiving, some of these sightings appear to be launches of home- made hot air balloons or what is known as Sky lanterns or Chinese lanterns.

These airborne devices are constructed on a frame that provides a somewhat round appearance. A lit candle or other fuel causes the air inside to heat up and the device then rises into the sky. These devices will appear very luminous and generally orange in color, and at times can appear quite large. They will move quite slowly, but will follow the wind patterns and could make sudden moves and turns, then move out of sight. Once the flame goes out the object will disappear, or drop to the ground. In some cases the paper material can catch fire and flaming debris can at times be observed falling from the sky.

The launching of such devices under the current dry conditions could create a fire hazard as well as pose a navigational hazard at night to low altitude aircraft.  There have been recent reports from eastern sections of the state and areas around Pittsburgh such as Fayette and Westmoreland counties concerning similar reports.

Not all of the luminous sphere observations may be so easily explained.  Some of the UFO sightings being reported are very detailed and concern low level observations of structured craft. For more information: www.stangordon.info.
